Lisa Barer is a yoga and mindfulness teacher who has recently relocated from Vancouver, British Columbia to Edmonton, Alberta
Lisa is known for her compassionate and therapeutic approach to teaching. Having suffered from physiological ailments herself (including Malalignment Syndrome, scoliosis in her spine, and anxiety driven Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Lisa understands how valuable a gentle and renewing yoga practice can be to chronic conditions.
In addition to being a certified Yoga Teacher (Langara College, 2012) Lisa has undertaken professional training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Jon Kabat-Zinn (2014), and in Restorative Yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater (Certified Relax and Renew Trainer® (2012)). She has also studied with renowned clinical psychologist and yoga therapist Bo Forbes, and is strongly influenced by the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar, Amy Weintraub, Donna Farhi and many other brilliant local and international healing practitioners.
Lisa also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Emily Carr University, as well as having studied psychology at both UBC and Adler University. She will be pursuing a Masters in Mindfulness Studies in January 2017.
